Obituary

Margaret “Peg” Golick

May 20, 1941 – October 20, 2024

Margaret Ann “Peg” Golick (nee Tettelbach) passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, Sunday, October 20, 2024 in Ft. Myers, Florida. Beloved partner of 38 years to Chuck Martinko, and loving mother of Kathy (Jim) McQuaide, Karen (Paul) Motiejunas, and Shelly (Tim) McDonough; devoted grandmother to Jim McQuaide, Colleen McQuaide, Bridget (Phil) Brusk, Maggie McQuaide, Pat McQuaide, Brian McQuaide, Emily McDonough, Jack McDonough and Danny McDonough; great grandmother to Theo McQuaide. She is survived by her sister, Maureen Collier, and brothers Dennis (Vicky) Tettelbach and Tom (Karen) Tettelbach, and Chuck’s sister, Jan (Mike) Steinmaus. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Helen Tettelbach, and brothers, Ray and Carl Tettelbach, Chuck’s father, John Martinko, and sister, Lorrie (Joe) Nelson. Peg was a cherished aunt and cousin and dear friend to many throughout her life.

Peg was born May 20, 1941, the eldest of six children and grew up in Brook Park, Ohio. She attended Ascension Catholic Grade School, St. Joseph Academy High School and Cuyahoga Community College. She married Ray Golick on Oct. 15, 1960 and they raised their three daughters in Euclid, Ohio. She was a successful businesswoman in the telecommunications industry, working for Electronic Engineering Company, Norstan Communications and XO Communications.

She enjoyed traveling, golfing, playing cards, trips to the casino, and drinking red wine. Her greatest love was spending time with her family, whether it be theater (or as she pronounced it thee-ay-tor) productions, sporting events or academic achievements for her children and grandchildren. She rarely missed an event! Her mantra was “I tried to do it all … and almost did!” She encouraged those around her to do the same.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made in memory of Peg to Hope Hospice, 9470 HealthPark Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908.

There will be a gathering of friends and family on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Sts. Robert & William Church, 367 E. 260 St., Euclid, Ohio, 44132 beginning at 9:30 a.m. A funeral mass will follow at 11:00 a.m.

Our hearts are broken to learn of Peg's passing. She was so special to her family and was the rock of Chuck's life. We will remember her as a dedicated supporter of the St. Joseph/VASJ McDonough Memorial Cross-Country Meet. Each year, rain or shine, sun or bluster, she and Chuck's sisters and Chuck's Dad would show up and put on their 'timing crew' hats to help make the event an annual success. We thank her for all of her support and contributions - food , fun, humor, and always smiling. Peg was special, and she will be missed by so many.

Peg, you were like a big sister to me ever since I was old enough to walk the 7 houses down to the Tettelbach house and hang out with Carl. Thanks for all of your kindness, compassion and laughter over the years. You always greeted me with a hug and that beautiful smile. Sure going to miss you. Love you. ☘️❤️☘️

Peg had such a big heart and welcomed everyone with open arms. She treated the Nelson/Ragan family as part of her own and spent countless hours supporting us during difficult times while participating in the fun and laughter other times. We are so grateful to have had such a caring, compassionate, and fun-loving woman in our lives. Peg will truly be missed. Sending your family love and peace during this time.
