Margaret’s son Rock Wekelo and five of her siblings preceded her in death: Rock Schneider, Adolph Schneider, Evelyn DiPiero, Edna Nadia, and Fluerette Thompson. Surviving siblings, all of New York state, are Jeannette Simpson of Utica, Yvonne (Charles) Thompson of Utica, Diane Kowal of Watertown, Marilyn (Ray) Crossley of Utica, and Linda (Eddie) Kloster of Whitesboro.

Margaret was by nature a creative person, bringing her unique touch to everything from costume- and jewelry-making to her gourmet meals. She served as the president/chief of the Utica School Crossing Guards Association and was one of the city’s first eight “meter maids” in the early 1960s. She was also an officer of the St. Joseph Mothers’ Club and worked for 30 years, with jobs in pharmacy stores, cosmetology, and making custom jewelry. Margaret’s life was rich with loving family and very special friends, who were the source of much joy for her.

Marge was a lovely person whom Greg and I had the honor of knowing through our son-in-law Chad. She liked to cook and we were treated to some of her delightful meals. Due to moving close to her house the past few years, we were able to enjoy her company on multiple occasions. We will miss her. Sandy Ivy

You are my Grandmother and a one of a kind, amazing person. Your loss is very painful, but I will respect your memory for the rest of my life. Until we meet again.

Marge was the best mother in law a young wife could have. She helped design and make my wedding ring. Since the diamond was a bit small, Marge designed little petals around the diamond and the put diamond chips in each petal to make it all appear larger. My daughter, Kerry has it now. Marge was a beautiful, kind and intuitive person. She will be missed but never forgotten!
