Obituary
Peggy (Margaret Mary) Haus, 1930 – 2022, was an inspiration and the best mother/grandmother/great grandmother, wife and friend. She was the youngest child of Herman and Mary Myers and was born in Bradford Woods, Pa. She met her husband, Don, at the University of Pittsburgh, where she earned a teaching degree. Peggy taught in a one-room school house for a couple of years before devoting herself to her family.
Peggy and Don were married for 60 years before Don’s death in 2014. Don’s Rockwell career kept them moving, which Peggy loved. They lived in New Jersey, Ohio and Indiana, where they were active in the Elks, Moose and Eagles. They enjoyed bowling, golf, dancing and entertaining, and Peggy was in the Follies in Fort Wayne, earned Elk of the Year in Ormond and was quite the line dancer until Covid hit.
Don and Peggy had seven children – Don (Lynn) Haus Jr., Maribeth (Jim) Welch, Sandy (Jeff) Niblick, Amy (Scott) Ferguson, Sally Haus, Tom (Kim) Haus and Becky Haus. She was the heart of the family and kept everything juggled while dad traveled weekly for work. Peggy had 15 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
When they retired to the warmth of Florida, many knew Peggy from her hour-long morning bike rides, which she finally had to give up this past year. She greeted everyone and stopped for photos of birds, ducks and flowers. She found joy in life. She loved her line dancing and her Elks. Music on Wednesday nights was a must. She was loved by many.
