Obituary

Peggy (Margaret Mary) Haus, 1930 – 2022, was an inspiration and the best mother/grandmother/great grandmother, wife and friend. She was the youngest child of Herman and Mary Myers and was born in Bradford Woods, Pa. She met her husband, Don, at the University of Pittsburgh, where she earned a teaching degree. Peggy taught in a one-room school house for a couple of years before devoting herself to her family.

Peggy and Don were married for 60 years before Don’s death in 2014. Don’s Rockwell career kept them moving, which Peggy loved. They lived in New Jersey, Ohio and Indiana, where they were active in the Elks, Moose and Eagles. They enjoyed bowling, golf, dancing and entertaining, and Peggy was in the Follies in Fort Wayne, earned Elk of the Year in Ormond and was quite the line dancer until Covid hit.

Don and Peggy had seven children – Don (Lynn) Haus Jr., Maribeth (Jim) Welch, Sandy (Jeff) Niblick, Amy (Scott) Ferguson, Sally Haus, Tom (Kim) Haus and Becky Haus. She was the heart of the family and kept everything juggled while dad traveled weekly for work. Peggy had 15 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

When they retired to the warmth of Florida, many knew Peggy from her hour-long morning bike rides, which she finally had to give up this past year. She greeted everyone and stopped for photos of birds, ducks and flowers. She found joy in life. She loved her line dancing and her Elks. Music on Wednesday nights was a must. She was loved by many.

A Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be held from 4:00pm-7:00pm Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at Baldwin Brothers Ormond Beach Chapel, 1185 W. Granada Blvd. #11, Ormond Beach, FL 32174.

There will be a Memorial Mass Wednesday, November 30, 2022, family and friends will be received from 2-3pm, with the Mass at 3pm, and will be held at the Basilica of St. Paul, 317 Mullally St. Daytona Beach FL 32114.

I've only just learned of my beloved aunt's passing. It has been many years since I've seen her, but she was always one of my favorite people. I remember Aunt Sue as this gentle, loving and fun aunt who always had a ready laugh and always the best hugs. She smiled and just loved life. One of the last times I saw my aunt was at my wedding in 1973. I remember her and my Dad dancing and just having a wonderful time. She may have had 7 children, but she was more than happy to share herself with those she loved. I've thought about Aunt Sue often over the years and missed her terribly. She will be loved and missed. My thoughts and heart are with the family as they say a loving farewell to their dear mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Love you Aunt Sue.

Because of my friendship with Maribeth I was fortunate to spend time with her family since I was a teen. Being around Mom Haus was always fun. She loved anything that involved family and friends. And she always treated me like one of her own. She was quick to laugh which highlighted her beautiful eyes and smile. In later years, Jim and I got to share some treasured moments with her. And when she joined our weekly friends zooms it was always a treat. 92 years well lived Mom Haus. Sympathy and hugs to her family.

I Am So Greatful To Have Been In Mrs Margaret’s Life , I Would See Her Every Other Day And She Was The First Person I Would See Of The Day Her Smile Would Light Up The Room. We Would Take Our Daily Morning Walks Or Sit On The Porch Looking At The Birds And Waving To The People Driving By. I’m Glad That I Got To Be With Her These Past 3 Months I’ve Grown To Love Her And The Family So Much And I’m Happy That They’ve Welcomed Me Into Their Lives With Opening Arms. It Was Hard Seeing You In Pain And Not Your Usual Self But Your Not Hurting Now We Are All Sad To See To See You But Your Free and Free Of Pain And Now Can Get Your Rest.
    Love You Always , LaTonivia

I knew her as Mrs. Haus, Maribeth’s mom. She hosted me for our “overnight stays” dozens of times. She was always very welcoming, and made me feel included in family activities. I always loved how “spunky” she was!
    She was a wonderful lady!
