Obituary

Margaret Leatrice Gardiner, 79, of Port Orange, Florida passed away on August 10, 2016 from Pancreatic Cancer at the Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia Flagler, Port Orange, Florida under mild medication. She was born in Middleport, New York on September 10, 1936 to the late Ernest William Swarthout and Irma Lillian Weiland Swarthout. She received an Associate’s Degree from the University of Buffalo. Margaret retired as the Clerk of the Legislature in Lockport, New York and she also retired from LensCrafters in Daytona Beach, Florida. She is survived by her loving husband of 17 years, Robert Charles Gardiner Sr. of Port Orange, Florida; her daughter, Cheryl Patterson of Davy, West Virginia; her son, Douglas Patterson of Lockport, New York; and her daughter, Renaute Claire of Lockport, New York; her seven grandchildren, her 10 great-grandchildren, and her one great-great grandchild. In the words of Margaret “I’m sorry I cannot help anymore, I’m tired and I have gone to Eternal rest. There will be no funeral services held, so please help to continue rescuing animals by supporting the Humane Society. Goodbye for now.” Her ashes will be lovingly kept by her husband until he can join her ashes, then to be placed in their permanent gravesite located in New York State at Royalton Mountain Ridge Cemetery, Royalton Center Road, Niagara County. “My time will linger until I can join her forever”, Robert Charles Gardiner Sr. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Margaret to the Humane Society of your choice.
