Obituary
Margaret Louise Crockett was born Margaret Louise Goodman on July 13, 1923 to Butler Goodman and Laura Louise Lang in Durham, North Carolina. Of their five children, Margaret was the second eldest. She grew up in Gastonia, North Carolina as a helpful young lady to her parents. She loved to read and spend afternoons outside in the sun. She graduated from high school in 1942, and in 1946, she married Riley Brice Crockett, settling in Harlem, New York City. Margaret was a devoted and loving mother to three beautiful daughters, Rebecca Louise, Yvonne Marie, and Brenda Joyce. She was also a talented seamstress, and worked for a radio manufacturing company.
Upon retirement, Riley and Margaret made their home in New Smyrna Beach, FL. Margaret had loved the area so much after visiting with a friend, that she purchased land and built a home there. She enjoyed many active years at the New Smyrna Beach Senior Center, where she volunteered serving lunch, played bingo and socialized. Margaret was fortunate enough to travel to Israel, the Caribbean, and Egypt, as well as take exciting cruises with her daughter Yvonne.
To cherish her memory, Margaret leaves behind her loving daughter, Brenda Blackwell; eight grandchildren, Yvette, Monifa, Dulani, Marjani, Tahirah, Tara, Michael, and Kalyn; and six great-grandchildren, Yvonne, Erica, Faith, Noah, Bryce, and Riley.
