Maria Carmen “Mamie” Corleto Gomez

97, of Palm Coast, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on February 22, 2025.

Maria Carmen “Mamie” was born on July 16, 1927, in Lingayen, Pangasinan, Philippines. A beloved teacher for many years, she dedicated her life to shaping young minds and had a profound impact on her students. Maria Carmen taught almost all subjects in 5th grade, fostering a love for learning in all who had the privilege of being her student. Her passion for education and her nurturing spirit will be remembered by generations of learners.

Maria Carmen was a loving mother to five children: Angel Gomez, Leonardo Gomez, Fidel Gomez, Myra Gomez-Roy, and Cheryl Gomez-Torres. She also left behind 15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, who brought her much joy. Maria was preceded in death by her husband, Leonardo Gomez Sr., and her parents, Cirilo Corleto and Amparo Posadas.

Her family was her greatest joy, and her kindness, wisdom, and generosity touched everyone she met. Maria was known for her love of gardening, selling potted plants in her mini store back home, and initiating the planting of trees that bear fruit we still feast on to this day. She also shared an equal passion for cooking, passing down scrumptious dishes to anyone wanting to learn. Furthermore, she enjoyed spending time with her loved ones—especially her children and grandchildren, with whom she created TikTok videos and vlogs.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to all those who supported Maria in her later years. Your kindness, compassion, and love were a great comfort to her, and your support has meant the world to all of us. As we mourn her passing, we find solace in the beautiful memories she has left behind and the impact she made on so many lives. Her memory will forever be cherished. We will always remember her for the warmth she brought to every room and her joy in being with those she loved.

A viewing will be held at Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home, Ormond Beach, on March 5, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral mass will take place at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, located at 4600 Belle Terre Pkwy, Palm Coast, FL 32164, on March 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Cremation will follow at Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home, 1185 W Granada Blvd #11, Ormond Beach, FL 32174.
