SILVA, MARIA HERMINIA, AGE 79
ORMOND BEACH
Maria Herminia Silva, age 79, of Ormond Beach, FL passed away on November 27, 2018, at home with her loving family by her side.
Born in Rio Tinto, Gondomar, Portugal to her parents, Artur and Alzira Pinto DeFaria. She was raised in Lourenco Marques, Mozambique, Africa, where she met and married her husband of 55 years, Bernardino M. DaSilva. The two were blessed with three sons, and eventually moved to the United States in 1976 and resided in Rhode Island.
Herminia loved her family dearly. They were her entire life. She enjoyed the serenity of arts and crafts, cooking and baking, and Fado music. She received a great joy from singing and dancing, as well as her late-night conversations over tea with her family and friends. Herminia was a beautiful, kind soul. She opened her heart and home to everyone that crossed her path. She always had room for one more at her dinner table, or at any holiday celebration. Christmas was her absolute favorite time of the year and she will forever be deeply missed. Herminia was affiliated with the Portuguese-American Cultural Center, in Palm Coast, Florida and Groupo Amigos Da Terceira, Coral Heranca Portuguesa and the Portuguese Social Club of Pawtucket, RI.
Herminia leaves behind her husband, Bernardino M DaSilva; three sons, Artur (wife Lise) of Cumberland, RI, Carlos (wife Christina) of Lincoln, RI and Mario of Lincoln, RI; six grandchildren, Kayleigh, Artur Jr., Sofia, Juliano, Adriano and Diogo all of Rhode Island; a sister, Idalina (husband Mario) Rocha of Palm Coast, FL. She is predeceased by her brother, Valdemar Pinto DeFaria, of Portugal, as well as many family and friends in Rhode Island, Florida and Portugal.
Please join us in a Mass Celebrating her life on Saturday, December 15th at 9 AM at St. Judes Church, 301 Front Street, Lincoln, RI and for her Memorial Mass on December 30th, 2018 at 11 AM at St Brendan’s Church, 100 Oceanshore Blvd, Ormond Beach, FL. Burial will be private.
Until we meet again.
Always be in my heart.
A smile that would light a room.
