Obituary

Maria D. Ramirez, 68, died unexpectedly on January, 28 2021, at her home in Daytona Beach, FL.

Maria was born May 7, 1952, in Brooklyn, NY to Luis and Digna Ramirez. Maria had a heart of gold, and would accomplish anything she set her mind to do. She made an impact everywhere she went, and with everyone she came in contact with.

Maria came to Florida in 2018 with the love her life, Robert, to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. She looked forward to enjoying her new, custom built home and to retire at Margaritaville in Daytona Beach where she envisioned her “happy place”, her version of paradise.

She worked many years as an RN for NY Methodist Hospital as well as the VA Hospital in Albuquerque NM. She worked as travel nurse in NC before fully enjoying her retirement in September 2018.

Maria and her husband Robert enjoyed 20+ wonderful years together, loving and laughing and making countless memories together.  Maria is survived by her husband of 20 years, Robert, daughter, Lisa, bonus daughters, Nicole and Page, bonus son, Jeremy, grandchildren, Tai, Adriana, Elijah and Sophia, bonus grandchildren, Isabelle, Max, Miles and Cinquay, Sister in, Law Crystal, and sons in laws, Khalid and Jared.

    Hey Mom 2,

We miss you a ton down here. We are thankful for the love you shared and the lessons you taught us. There’s a hole in our hearts here, since you left, and we’ll have to lean on each other to get through. We are all better people for having you in our lives. I can say you were truly amazing and successful in EVERY facet of your life here. I will continue to look skyward for your guidance, and as I go over possible decisions, I’ll hear your voice saying “well what do you wanna do that for” when the worst possible choice comes up. I hope I can be as good a person and a leader that you were and I’ll look through your lessons and your role in our family to try and make that happen. There are days that I feel like this is a dream, that you’ll come back, and everything as I know it will be right again. It’s a wishful hope. We love you, miss you and hope that you’ll help guide us in the right direction

    Khalid

It's difficult to put into words how much Maria meant to me, to all of us. I will always have in my heart the many happy times we shared going to baseball games, concerts, road trips,oh caliente, pool parties, music and dancing! She welcomed everyone into her heart and home, she knew not a stranger. She made friends with everyone she
met. Oh, and let me not forget the fur babies she took in, cared for and loved. All these and so many more happy memories I will cherish in my heart forever. Thank you for your love Maria and until we meet again.. Rest in Peace Querida.

Had the pleasure of spending time with Maria last year after many years. We originally met in New York through my sister in law Nancy. You will be greatly missed. May the peace of the Lord be with your family and find comfort in knowing that you are now rejoicing in the presence of our Father in Heaven.

Maria was a beautiful soul. She loved her family and friends and they loved her. She was not afraid to speak her mind and that was one thing I loved about her. The world has lost a beloved person far too soon. I pray that Bob, Lisa and her family, Nicole and her family and all Maria's friends will find comfort in knowing that Maria is in God's hands.

Where does one start when trying to describe the meaning and the impact that one person has on another? With Maria it's easy. She was smart, beautiful, passionate, not only for women's rights, but human rights. Hard working, nothing was ever handed to her. She worked for it. Had a love for music that you appreciated and envied even, and had the record collection to prove it. Great cook? Absolutely. Great host when you were her guest? Absolutely. She was tough but with a soft edge. Loving mother, loving grandmother, loving friend. Honestly, a great role model for all of us. If only the world was filled with more humans like her we would be in a better place. But, unfortunately we lost her way too soon. She was loved and respected, and for good reason. I will miss her as will all of her friends and family. People like her only come into your life if you're lucky.

What a tremendous loss we are experiencing by your passing. You were such an amazing mom, wife, and friend to us all. You welcomed me into your heart and always made me feel so welcome in your home. I was always amazed at your ability to do anything you put your mind to! You were the D.I.Y. queen and you taught me so much. We are broken hearted, but will find strength in all of the fun memories we have with you.
