Obituary

Marianne Cope DeRock of Fort Myers, FL., formerly of Lexington, NC., passed away on Friday, August 23, 2019.

Marianne was born in Boston, MA., on February 10, 1931.  She enjoyed a long, successful career as a court reporter and eventually retired from the State of NC.  Marianne was a devout Catholic and served as a cantor and organist for Our Lady of The Rosary in Lexington.  She was a loving mother and is survived by 8 children:  Kathy (Bobby) Sweatt of Lexington, Butch (Kaye) Ochoa of Lexington, David (Maria) Ochoa of Charlotte, Lisa (Jay) Young of Elizabethtown, Dennis (Beth) DeRock of Atlanta, Gregory DeRock of Statesville, Suzanne (Lloyd) Jones of Salisbury, and Tina (Stuart) Haas of Huntersville; 19 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 4 nieces and nephews.  Marianne is also survived by her sister Betty Craig of Michigan.  She was predeceased by her husband Larry DeRock.

A special thank you to dear friends Hilda Durso and Gloria Krettler of Ft. Myers, FL., for their tender care during Marianne’s brief illness.

A funeral mass will be held Thursday, October 17th, 2019, 11:00 am at St. Therese Catholic Church, 20115 N Tamiami Trail, N Ft. Myers, FL.,  33903.  Family will receive friends immediately following the service at Three Fishermen Restaurant, 13021 N. Cleveland Ave.  Interment will be private at Sarasota National Cemetery.

Flowers and Memorial donations can be sent directly to St. Therese Catholic Church.
