Obituary

Our dear mother, grandmother (Oma) and great-grandmother, Marianne Kretsch, passed away peacefully with family by her side, on January 15, 2023. Marianne was 87 years old and had a full and joyful life, always having a smile to give to all.

Marianne was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Leo, and her daughter Rita. She is survived by her daughter Karen and her husband Joe, son Ken and his wife Donna, son Tom and his wife Diane, and son-in-law Karl. Marianne was a loving Oma to Laura (Chris), Karl, Nick (Yvonne), Leo, Eric, Danielle (Eric), Brooke (Rich), Joe, Kelsey and Heather, and a great-Oma to Ava, Charly, Jack, Sophia and Stella. She is pre-deceased by her sister Anna(Franz) and survived by her brother Tony (Trudy) and her cousin Heidi and many nephews, nieces and cousins in the US and Germany.

Marianne and her husband, Leo, immigrated together, with their daughter Rita, from Germany in 1956, growing and raising their family in Towaco, New Jersey. After their children were grown, they moved to Ft. Myers/Naples, Florida. Together they owned the Hallmark Store in Downtown Ft. Myers after which the co-owned several Barnie’s Coffee & Tea Shops before retiring.

Our family will miss the delicious meals she enjoyed cooking and sharing them with us all as we sat around the table. The recipes have been handed down, but the secret ingredient will be missing – Oma’s love.

A mass will be held at Saint Cecilia Catholic Church, 5632 Sunrise Drive, Fort Myers, FL 33919 on February 4, at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest a donation in her name, to either the Dubin Center, 12685 New Brittany Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33907, dubincenter.com (which provides free resources for caregivers and loved ones of dementia) or Hope Hospice, MoreHope.com.

Instead of flowers, the family would prefer if you would make a donation to
dubincenter.com or morehope.com
