Obituary
Marie Josephine Battaglia died Sunday November 13, 2022 at Gulf Coast Hospital of heart failure after a period of illness. Marie was born October 19, 1924 in LeRoy, New York to Anthony and Josephine (Ange) Battaglia. When she was only 6 months old, her mother died, and she was raised by her father and sisters. She never married and lived most of her life in LeRoy and Rochester, New York with sisters Grace LaRocco and Clara Battaglia. In 1988 she moved to Fort Myers, Florida where she loved the weather and the many wonderful friends and neighbors at Cinnamon Cove.
Marie graduated from LeRoy High School and Rochester Business School. She worked in the accounting department at Xerox corporation for thirty years after which she retired. She was preceded in death by her siblings Grace LaRocco (husband Peter), Anna O’Geen (husband Louis), Clara, Samuel (wife Rose), Cosmo (wife Josie), and Louis (wife Geraldine). She is survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews. She was a devoted friend to all, and everyone loved her. She was godmother to her great-great niece, Lauren.
Marie was an amazing Italian cook and her homemade pizza and chicken parmesan were her specialties. She kept an immaculate house and loved to host family and friends for gatherings, especially for the Easter and Christmas holidays. Her hobbies included playing cards and computer games. Marie was very devoted to the Blessed Mother especially as she never knew her own mother.
Funeral arrangements are with Baldwin Brothers in Fort Myers and funeral Mass at St. Colombkille Catholic Church in Ft. Myers. Internment in St. Francis cemetery in LeRoy. New York.
