Obituary

Marie Emma Colburn, 88, of Holly Hill, FL, passed away peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease on August 25, 2017 at Bishops Glen Assisted Living, Holly Hill Fl.

 

 

Marie) was born in the Bronx, New York to John Joseph Boese and Caroline  Stevenson Boese on Jan 24, 1929. She would have celebrated her 67th anniversary to her loving husband William C Colburn on 16 September.  They had been childhood sweethearts since the age of 12 in the Bronx. She moved to Winter Park FL in May of 1962 and worked as the office manager and receptionist for Dr. Joseph Nagelsen DDS for over 30 years, retiring in 1994. She and her husband then retired to New Smyrna Beach FL where she spent her time traveling, playing bridge and most of all playing bingo. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Smyrna Beach. She was a member of P.E.O. International.

 

Marie is preceded in death by her parents and one grandson Ryan Scott Colburn.

 

Marie is survived by her husband William C Colburn, her sons Scott Colburn (Ann), Southport NC and Craig Colburn (Jeannie) Ponce Inlet FL, sister Evelyn Loughran Blount, Johns Creek GA, grandchildren Kelly Mann (Alan), Montgomery Al, Kasey Colburn, Montgomery AL, Nicole McNamee (Justin),  New Smyrna Beach, Nathan Colburn, Malibu, CA, and 3 great grandchildren, and  Nephew John Loughran (Natalie) Ponte Vedra FL, Nieces, Carol Fish (Robert), Suwannee GA, and Leslie (Keith) Schilleci Birmingham AL.

 

A memorial service will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the Spina Bifida Association or the Alzheimer’s Association. The family of Marie wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff of the Willows at Bishop’s Glen Assisted Living and the caring staff of Vitas Hospice. We know Mom is organizing her first Bingo game in heaven and most likely winning, as we all have been winners having her in our lives.

    I remember fondly all the years I've known Marie. As a neighbor, as a bridge partner, but most of all, as a friend. My love to the entire family.
