Marie Louise Harkleroad Decker, age 77, of Ocklawaha, FL, passed away on January 19, 2023 in Ocala, FL,. surrounded by her loving family. Marie was born on March 2, 1945, to parents Merritt Abram Harkleroad and Anna Catherine Civis Harkleroad in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. She was a gifted person whose career included work with youth in the Broward County Public School System from which she retired as a High School Cafeteria Manager. Her hobbies included quilting, flower arranging, cooking and making decorations.

She was a very social, active and courageous women who loved and enjoyed her family, many friendships, and serving others through her Belleview United Methodist Church, and the Morningstar Masonic Lodge, and the Ocala Shrine Club. Her family and friends will always remember Marie for her love; and for her strength and courage, caring and helpful spirit, and a life-long dedication to serving others.

She is survived by her husband of 57 ½ years, Barry, of Ocklawaha, FL., sons Matt Decker (wife, Sabine), of Ft. Lauderdale, FL., employed by Broward County Public Schools, Mark Decker, of Hollywood, FL., employed by Publix Super Markets, and daughters Lisa M. Light (husband, Raphael), of Coral Springs, FL., employed by Broward County Public Schools,  Sherri Richard (husband, George) of Middleburg, FL., employed by Baker County School District, and by her four beloved grandchildren, Colin Light (Coral Springs, FL) , Harley Richard (Green Cove Springs, FL) , Catie Richard (Cincinnati, OH)  and Emma Richard (Middleburg, FL).

She is preceded in death by her parents Merritt and Anna and by her eldest brother, Robert.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 6 PM on Saturday March 18, 2023,  at Ocala Shrine Club, 4301 SE Maricamp Road  Ocala, FL 34480.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in memory of Marie be made to The Shriner’s Hospitals for Children.
