Obituary

Marie Louise Woods (nee Rochon), age 98.5, of Monee, IL, formerly of Oak Forest and Chicago, IL, passed away in Fort Myers, FL, January 13, 2022.

We are heartbroken to say goodbye to our Mom but so grateful for the privilege of being raised by such an amazing, giving, loyal, athletic, energetic, funny, and brave woman.

Marie was preceded in death by her son Robert John Lowery and daughter Susan Patricia Lowery, and former husbands Jack Lowery and Francis Woods.

She was adored by her surviving daughters Jeanne Meeks, Barbara Bronson, Janet Bontz, Kathy Eversman, Nancy Weck and Peggie Wells and her sons-in-law whom she treasured: Bob Meeks, Michael Mazepink, Steve Bontz, Mark Eversman, Bob Weck and Tim Wells.

She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren David Meeks, Brian Meeks (Barb), Cristina Mazepink, Jessica Lowery, Chris Curtis (Amy), Kyle Bronson, Eric Bontz (Noor), Andrew Bontz, Alex Bontz (Kelsy), Laura Sahr (Jayson), Michael Eversman (Traci), Ben Eversman, Patrick, Peter, Sophie and Hannah Weck, Teigan Madden (Nick), Cooper, Martin, and Annie Wells.

Marie was a dear great-grandmother to Julia (Meeks) (Joe) Brew, Hayley and Conor Meeks, Finn Niesewand, Harper and Eleanor Hall-Curtis, Lilyana, Zoey, Arya, Eowyn, Camila, Archie, and Brando Bontz, Josie and Joshua Sahr; and proud great-great-grandmother to Lucille Rose Brew.

She will be missed by sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews who remember her as Babe.

Marie had many special friends in Golf Vista where she loved playing golf, cards, Wii Bowling, and helping her neighbors. While in Texas she volunteered at the hospital and for a literacy program for children. She also loved traveling the country in her motor home, square dancing, puzzles, Wheel of Fortune, and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bulls. She took comfort from her faith in God and from her rosary and was a faithful member of St. Boniface Church.

A celebration of life in honor of Marie will be held at a later date.

Aunt Babe was an awesome woman. When speaking with her she would listen and smiled so gently, you could feel her kindness and love. Such a lovely lady - everyone loved Aunt Babe.
