Obituary
Marie S. Crandall, 91, peacefully went home to our Lord, Thursday, July 20, 2017. She was born in Volusia, New York, November 2, 1925, and was married to Sheldon R. Crandall for 61 years. In 1964 the family moved to New Smyrna Beach and a couple years later Sheldon and Marie bought Orange Bakery. Marie decorated many cakes for birthdays, anniversaries, special events and weddings. For 32 years the bakery was a coffee shop where numerous people gathered for good food and good conversation. Marie was an active member of First Baptist Church of New Smyrna Beach for over 53 years. She was Sunday School Secretary for more than 30 years and was a member of the hand bell choir. She and Sheldon coordinated the Thursday evening ministry at Ocean View Nursing Home for over 30 years. Marie enjoyed visiting with family and friends, yard work and painting. The family often joked that if anyone stayed still too long Marie would paint a flower or something on them. She also enjoyed travelling with Sheldon and her family. Marie was predeceased in death by her husband, Sheldon R. Crandall, her sisters Louise Malchow and Charlotte Wood, her son-in-law Gerald Cribben and great granddaughters Victoria and Zoe Colon. She is survived by her children Lucretia (John) Millar, Orlando, FL; George (Cindy) Crandall, New Smyrna Beach, FL; Marsha (Frank) Taylor, Altamonte Springs, FL; Denise Cribben, Viera, FL; Dr. Jeffery (Denise) Crandall, Whetstone, AZ; and Dorena Daniel, Cocoa, FL. She had ten grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren with two more on the way. She is also survived by a sister, Martha Crandall, Jamestown, NY; brothers Delos (Donna) Stage and Paul (Betty) Stage, Dewittville, NY; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5pm-7pm on Friday, August 4, 2017, at Baldwin Brothers Funeral & Cremation Society, 1 North Causeway, New Smyrna Beach, FL. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017, at 11 am at Baldwin Brothers Funeral & Cremation Society. The committal service will follow at the Edgewater-New Smyrna Cemetery on US 1 in Edgewater, FL with a reception at First NSB – A Family Church, 200 Faulkner Street, New Smyrna Beach, FL, at 1 pm.
