Obituary
Marilyn Ann Brummer, 74, of Ft. Myers, FL, passed away on August 25, 2022, at Hope Hospice House. She was born on January 22, 1948 in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late William Joseph Brummer and Kathryn Rose (Sellars) Brummer. She earned her master’s degree from Georgia State University and her undergraduate degree from the University of Cincinnati. Marilyn loved playing tennis, was an active parishioner at St. John XXIII Catholic Church, and a member of Montage Women’s Club. Marilyn was a world traveler and enjoyed experiencing the beauty and the culture wherever she traveled. At home, Marilyn was a consummate volunteer. She spent countless hours giving tours at the Six Mile Cypress Slough, serving on many church committees, organizing events in her neighborhood, and serving anywhere else she was needed. Marilyn was an elementary school teacher for five years then spent 30 years employed by Norfolk Southern Corporation in Atlanta and Norfolk, VA. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Bill, her sister Arlene, and her significant other Jerry Pennell. Marilyn is survived by sister-in-law Linda Brummer of Sautee Nacoochee, GA; niece Becky Hooper of Demorest, GA; nephews Jeff Brummer of Plant City, FL and Brent Brummer of St. Johns, FL; great nephew Lt. Brandon Hooper of Lemoore, CA; great nieces Lindsay Hooper of Phoenix, Caroline Cribbs of Plant City, and Sara Lang of Orlando; and great nephew Brody Brummer of St. Johns. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 23, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John XXIII Catholic Church, 13060 Palomino Lane, Ft. Myers. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Six Mile Cypress Slough or to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the care and trust of Baldwin Brothers Funeral and Cremation Society, Ft. Myers.
