Obituary
Marilyn June Humbert, age 97, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2024, in Ormond Beach, FL. Born on June 27, 1927, in Holland, Michigan, to Peter and Jennie Lugten, Marilyn lived a life full of vibrant experiences and cherished memories.
Marilyn’s early years were marked by her participation in the Holland Tulip Time parade, where she proudly marched in her wooden shoes. Her lifelong passion for reading, playing cards, shopping, and staying active was evident throughout her life. She found joy in walking the Granada Bridge and spent many years volunteering as a Pink Lady at the Ormond Memorial Hospital.
Professionally, Marilyn began her career at the Wooden Shoe Factory and later worked as a Secretary at the Daytona Mall. Her dedication and hard work were hallmarks of her career.
Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Jill Watson, and her husband John of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; her granddaughters Michele Campbell of Ormond Beach, FL, and Kim Cloud of Tallahassee, FL; and her great-grandchildren, Crawford Cloud, Kinley Cloud, and Collins Cloud, all of Tallahassee, FL. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who will remember her fondly.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Alex Humbert, with whom she shared 73 years of marriage, and her daughter, Terrie Campbell.
A celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held at a later date, details to be announced. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the support and condolences received during this time of loss. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of choice in Marilyn’s memory.
