Obituary

Marilyn “Lynne” Quick Snowden, born on May 1, 1949, in Decatur, Macon County, Illinois, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2024, in Leesburg, Lake County, Florida. Lynne attended the University of Alabama, where she developed a lifelong love for the Crimson Tide. Throughout her career, she excelled as a flight attendant, worked in public relations within the auto industry, and was passionate about creating jewelry.

Lynne’s hobbies reflected her vibrant spirit. She enjoyed line dancing, both as a participant and instructor, made beautiful jewelry to gift to others, and spent time puttering around in her golf cart. Known for her keen organizational skills, Lynne had a warm heart and a generous soul, evident in her dedication to organizing Thanksgiving dinners for her neighborhood and serving on the welcoming committee. She adored gardening and took great pleasure in dressing beautifully, always adorned in clothes and jewelry that reflected her radiant personality.

Lynne was remembered by those close to her for her sense of humor and kindness. A devoted Christian, she was deeply service-oriented, often helping her neighbors and sharing her faith. She is survived by her sister, Ann Quick, and her nephews. Lynne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William “Bill” Clarence Snowden; her parents, Cletus Henry Quick and Nettie Henrietta Kirkley; and her sister, Nettie Faye Quick.

    She departed much too soon

Lynne and I crossed paths in June 2021 as she was part of an excited and enthused group that'd joined together to make sure our mutual friend, Betzy, got packed up and moved to her retirement center. She worked tirelessly and cheerfully and we all had a great time hearing Betzy tell the story behind many of her pictures and things. Lynne and Betzy, however, had known each other for years because of playing bridge. So, even though my getting acquainted time with Lynne, was but seven days, it was enough to know her character and work energy. After her diagnosis, we learned we each played Wordle, and we'd compare scores daily online. I can attest to her being darn sharp (and determinedly upbeat) till the end of her days.
My sympathy to all who loved her so much and already knew well her qualities,
    Georgiana Havill
