I have been thinking of you all and remembering you in my prayers since learning of Doc’s passing. Needless to say many fond memories flood my heart and mind when I think of times spent with your family during my Wilmington years and when I think of Doc the first word that comes to mind after Christian is GENTLEMAN. If ever there was a man who epitomized the word “gentleman” it was Doc. He always had a smile on his face, a kind word to be spoken and wanted to be sure everyone else was taken care of. He loved Marcia and his children (later sons- in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchildren and great grandchildren) as set forth in the scriptures and they in turn have taught it to their respective families - what a heritage. I know because I witnessed it in their home and in the lives of their children in Sunday School, youth group, etc. I honestly can say my life was blessed for having known Doc and Marcia and family. I saw the word “gentleman” demonstrated in Doc’s service as a teacher, Deacon and Elder in the church and saw him make wise decisions on many occasions on behalf of the church family, etc. He was wise in his counsel. He was a man of integrity, values, wisdom, love, etc. He was a hard worker - whatever the task might be. He also baked the best pumpkin pie around!
Again, my love to the Johnson family and extended family that I got to know through the years. I am so glad the Lord allowed our paths to cross.
