Obituary

Marjorie Sosebee Van Brackle, 84, of Daytona Beach, Florida went to be with the Lord December 4, 2018

She is survived by her daughter Cathy and three sons, Phil and wife Cindy, Tony and wife Cynthia, and Larry Van Brackle; five grand children, and three great grand children, and life long family friend Barbara Hodgekins Dillashaw, as well as many nieces and nephews. Marjorie was the last of a great generation: Betty, Jo Ann, Bud and  Caroline whose memories continue to live in all of us.

Marjorie was born 1934 in Demorest, Georgia. She was the daughter of Rex Sosebee and Clyde Elizabeth Ludwig. She was a graduate of Crawford W. Long Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Atlanta, Georgia which began her 40 year career of nursing. She later founded the child support enforcement group C.A.D.D. (Children Against Deadbeat Dads),  which raised awareness for the lack of laws protecting single parents from receiving child support. Started in her living room on borrowed folding chairs this, grassroots organization grew to be nationwide  and was instrumental in the child support laws being changed across the state of Florida and the rest of the United States. This group’s involvement, along with her love of families,  led her to become a highly sought-after lobbyist by state politicians  into the world of politics where she eventually sat on the Governor’s Commission on Child Support under Governor Bob Graham.

Although she was involved in many causes especially those involving children throughout her lifetime her greatest legacy was her family. Her Sense of humor, infectious laughter and childlike wonder will be greatly missed. Walk with the angels mom. We love you.
