Mark A. Nelson, 51, went to be with angels on March 5, 2015. He was surrounded by his family at the Hospice of the Comforter.
Mark was born in Rockledge, FL on January 3, 1964. He attended Spruce Creek High School and graduated in 1982. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1983 and served until 1986 when he was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant.
Mark spent time serving as a police officer with the Daytona Beach Police Department and Winter Springs Police Department. In 2002, Mark started his successful pest control business, Nelson Pest Management.
He greatly enjoyed spending time having fun in the sun in the pool, at the beach, and playing with his grandkids. Most weekends were spent watching his favorite teams, the Miami Dolphins and Florida Gators, while barbequing on the grill.
Mark is survived by his wife, Patricia, and his daughter, Ashley (his “SweetPea”). He is also survived by his mother, Linda Nelson, his stepdaughters, Tiffany Olsen (Ted Olsen) and Christina Lanier (David Dinatelo), his stepson, Zach Lanier (Sally Lanier) and his grandchildren, Makinley-Ann and Austin Olsen and Sawyer and Aubrey Lanier-Dinatelo.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 14th at 1 pm at the First Baptist Church of Oviedo, 45 W. Broadway, Oviedo, FL 32765. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to the Hospice of the Comforter at 480 W. Central Parkway, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714 (www.hospiceofthecomforter.org).
My heart goes out to you. So sad, I just found out today 10-25-15. As you know, we had only recently were able to find each other again after all these years, on Facebook. Last time we were talking, we were talking about you, and he said he'd say hello to you. He did and said you had asked about me too. He never mention that he was sick at all. So I am in shock. Just want to say that it hurts that he is gone. Best wishes to you and the rest of his family. He was a nice guy, glad we were friends!
Terri
