Obituary

Martin (Matt) Christopher O’Connor, 75, passed away on March 27th, 2022 in Tavares, FL.

Matt was born in Mitchelstown, Co. Cork, Ireland to James O’Connor and Catherine Ferrick on June 20th, 1946.  He retired as an electrician from Ford Motor Company, Chicago and was a member of UAW Local 551.  He served in the Irish Army and was a UN Peacekeeper.  He was involved in the Elks Club and the Royal Harbor community.

Matt is preceded in death by his parents, James and Catherine; son Martin James O’Connor; and siblings Maurice, Mike and Mary.

Matt is survived by his wife Claire, daughter Kelly (John) McCormack, granddaughters Madeline and Josephine, sisters Kay and Marge along with 12 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Memorial mass will be held 10:00am April 23, 2022 at St. Damian Church, Oak Forest with entombment to follow at Good Shepherd Cemetery .

    I never got to meet this man but I am a good friend of Kelly’s. I have hear stories from her about him and I know he was a great man and will be truly missed.
