Marty Jo Dixon Born 02/13/1944 died 07/14/2017
Marty was born in Columbus, Indiana. He was raised by his great grandmother Ida Rothrock and his mother Joan Hayes. He joined the Navy in 1961 and retired from the Navy in 1980. He traveled the world and loved being in the Navy. He served in the Vietnam war. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Verna, his sons Richard and Kelly Dixon, and Marty Jr. and Karla Dixon. They have six grandchildren, Rachael, Brandon, Xena, Jason, Heather and Morgan. He has a step-granddaughter Joia Hebert, his brother-in-law Robert Bouillion and wife Gail, his god son Brad Bouillion, New Iberia, LA., his best friend, Carl Smith and his wife Carolann, Reedley, CA. He met Carl in 1964 and we have remained friends all through these years. He has relatives in Columbus, Indiana, Jerry and Ella Mae Rothrock, William Rothrock, Larry Rothrock, John II Rothrock, and Mike Rothrock, and his Aunt Phyllis Rothrock, cousin Vicki Gilham, adopted sister Rose Gay, Douglas, GA. Marty was preceded in death by his parents Joan and Richard E. Reed and a daughter Veronica Jo Dixon, his loving great grandparents Marshall and Ida Rothrock and his grandmother Myrle Rothrock. Marty coached teams in football, Pop Warner, baseball teams, was a Boy Scout leader and has served for many years as a Eucharist Minister for Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Marty will be cremated and ashes will be buried at sea by the US Navy. A memorial mass will be held for Marty on 07/29/2017 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Orlando, FL at 10 AM.
