Obituary

Mary Brockman Ewing, 84, of Daytona Beach Shores, FL passed away September 23, 2010 in Winter Park, Florida, following a brief illness.  Born in Atlanta, GA on July 28, 1926.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam A. (Al) Ewing; her father and stepmother Mr. & Mrs. Polk C. Brockmam, her mother Ms. Dorothy J.  Morris and three sisters.  She attended Montreat Prepatory School, Asheville, NC and Brenau College, Gainesville, GA.  She is survived by her son Sam F. Ewing, Winter Park, FL; daughters Eunice Ewing Neale, Shingle Springs, CA and Debbie Ewing Kindle, Gate City, VA; sister Barbara Brockman McClenney, Winter Park, FL; Grandchildren Christie Meridith Kempher, Brad Meridith, Richard Lapp, Greg Lapp, Vickie Lapp; six great grandchildren.  In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Hope & Help Center, 1915 Woodcrest Drive, Winter Park, FL 32792.  Private Services for the family will be held at a later date.

    I have fond memories from my childhood of her in Winter Park and Altamonte Springs, FL (this goes back to 1979-1981). She was a kind lady that my friends (her grandchildren Christy and Brad) knew as "Mama" so I called her the same (which I think she preferred). She chauffered us kids around to parks and, as she would say, "Chunky Cheese's" (Chuck E. Cheese's). May God bless you in the palm of His hand, Mama. My prayers are extended to the entire Ewing clan.     I work at Jon & Terry's Hair Salon , that is how I knew Mary for several years and we all enjoyed her lovely ways. We enjoyed drinking coffee with her and she enjoyed the tasty nut breads Jon would have for us with our coffee.
    She was a beautiful person inside and out. All of us gals
    and Jon loved to see Mary come in. We will miss her so much.

I remember her fondly from my childhood - a very sweet lady and member of our Fayette "Mothers' Brigade" who watched over us collectively as we were growing up. I pray that the Lord brings you comfort and peace during this time, and that your warm memories of your mother remain prominent as you celebrate her life on earth and her final journey to her heavenly home.
