Obituary

Mary Con, 90, of Winter Park, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2015.   She was born on April 29, 1925 to Mabel & Con B. Gatch in Terrace Park, Ohio.

Mary Con attended Denison University, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta, and then graduated from Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in Chicago.

Mary Con moved to Winter Park in 1951, and met her future husband, Robert A. Miller (“Bob”) at Harper’s Tavern. They married at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Terrace Park on July 19, 1952.  She accepted Bob’s offer of employment as bookkeeper at Miller’s Hardware on the condition that she be home before her children returned from school. Her duties at the family business included payroll, and hand billing over 1,000 statements per month.

Mary Con was a member of the Winter Park Presbyterian Church for 60 years.

She volunteered at the Morse Museum, and as a Pink Lady at Winter Park Memorial Hospital, where she served over 2,000 hours and managed the Candy Stripers. She was an avid tennis and bridge player, and a member of the Orlando Country Club.  Vacations were often enjoyed in the NC mountains and onboard cruise ships.

Mary Con is survived by her loving husband, Bob, sister, Peggy Gatch, son, Stephen Miller, three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Presbyterian Church or the Morse Museum.

Services will be held at WP Presbyterian Church at 3PM, Friday October 6.  A reception in Fellowship Hall will follow.
