Obituary

Mary Spencer Eubank, 80, of Ocala, FL, passed away peacefully to be with her Lord on July 9th, 2021.

Mary was born on February 4th, 1941, the only child of Dunbar Bland Spencer and Edith Estelle (Vick) in Richmond, VA. Mary was a member of Ginter Park United Methodist Church and attended Thomas Jefferson High School, where she played violin in the orchestra. Mary attended the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA. She later attended Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC, where she graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree.

Mary loved helping others. Over her career, she was a social worker, a health and rehabilitative services case manager, began a church preschool program, and taught piano lessons. Mary was always full of life. In retirement, she was a long-time sitter for Monroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala, where she used her skills to care for others.

Mary was a loving mother and always had a strong faith in God. She made sure her children attended church in every city they lived in, which has made a positive and everlasting impact on their lives.

Mary had a love for music at an early age.  She was an accomplished violinist and pianist and a member of the Ocala Symphony Orchestra and the Akron Symphony Orchestra.  While living in Belgium, Mary also started the music program at the International School in Liege. She instilled her love and passion for music in her children and her grandchildren as well. Mary also enjoyed researching family history and genealogy. Over the years, she gathered many official documents, newspaper clippings, and photographs of relatives dating back multiple generations. Mary found sincere joy in making others feel light-hearted and laugh. She was dearly loved by many and will be deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by her first husband of 26 years, Zeb Lee Vance. They were married in 1960 and are survived by their four children: Bland Spencer Vance (Paula Nygard) of Port Lavaca, TX; Mary Lee Rodgers (Bob) of Ocean Springs, MS; John Douglas Vance (Darlene Gemuend) of Cordova, TN; and Robert Scott Vance (Nila) of Joplin, MO, and survived by fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A private family service is planned in King and Queen County, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, your local youth symphony orchestra program, or a charity of your choice.

Arrangements by Baldwin Brothers Funerals & Cremations 11250 SW 93rd Ct. Rd. Ocala, FL 352-236-7813.
