Mary Suzanne Hershberger of Leesburg, Florida passed away peacefully on August 15, 2020 with her husband and granddaughter, Heather, at her side. She was born on November 2, 1942 in Portland, Maine to Robert and Lucille Scamman.
She graduated from Anaheim High School in California and married the love of her life, Paul Hershberger, at the age of 17. They resided in Huntington Beach, CA where they had two children. In 1966, they moved to Scarborough ME where they built a home together. Mary worked as a CNA for over 40 years. She and Paul made a life in Maine before ultimately retiring to Florida. Mary blissfully celebrated her 60th wedding anniversary with her husband this past June.
Mary was a passionate photographer who followed a Florida eagle she had named Wind. If you were to ask her about her photos, she would go on and on about her bird. She had started a photography business that she had named Memories Mirror Photography, which later in life, she asked her granddaughter Heather to carry on the name she so loved. She also loved doing arts and crafts with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mary was very fond of her oldest granddaughter, Heather Lee, who had moved from Maine to Florida to provide her grandmother with the end of life care that she had pre-planned. Heather ensured that her plan was carried out until the end, which kept her in the home that she loved with her husband.
Mary is survived by her husband of 60 years Paul Hershberger of Leesburg, FL; son Darrell Hershberger of Leesburg, FL; daughter and son-in-law Virginia & Neal Gagne of Lewiston, ME; son Paul J Hershberger of Scarborough, ME; sister and brother-in-law Georgia Lynn Driscoll & Bob Anthony of Norway, ME; sister Roberta Moulton of Scarborough, ME; brother and sister-in-law Michael & Monique Scamman of Sanford, ME; and Many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; extended family and friends
