In addition to taking care of her family Mary worked side by side with her husband Clyde at their business, the Trout Run Garage, in Trout Run, PA.  She managed the office and handled various tasks to keep the business running smoothly. She also had a bakery business for many years.

Mary loved to read, do crossword puzzles and paint.  She started taking art classes in her mid 80’s. She loved her plants and enjoyed bird watching. She was an active member for 75 years in her hometown church – Trout Run United Methodist – teaching Sunday school and giving cooking classes to members. She was famous in the area for her sticky buns, candied apples and gingerbread men. She was a major contributor for making soups, coleslaw, and baking pies for charitable events in Trout Run. She was active in Eastern Star.

She spent her last 2 years in Ocala, FL soaking up the sun, enjoying her new friends and attending her new church home – Ocala West United Methodist.

The family would like to say thank you to the staff at Gentiva Hospice for their wonderful and understanding care of Mary.  There will be a celebration of life on June 7, 2025 at 1pm in the South Williamsport United Methodist church in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

I may never meet a more dear or nicer person than Mrs. Phillips. She was always welcoming, with a smile and usually some fabulous food. I for sure will never have a better sticky bun than those made by her. Although it was awhile since I had seen her, I know I'll miss her. RIP Mrs. Phillips, your cooking will be well received in heaven.
