Obituary
Matthew Alcindor, 90 of Ocala, Florida WAS CALLED HOME on December 18. 2023.
Matthew was born to the late St. Martin Alcindor and Eminielese Charles on September 22, 1933, in Soufriere, St. Lucia. He met his wife, Irene (Charles) Alcindor and moved to the country of Suriname where he lived for 25 years and had their children. Matthew was a man of all trades and liked working with his hands. In Suriname he worked for major American companies, such as on shrimp boats as a captain and ALCOA as a heavy duty and diesel mechanic, and in his spare time liked woodworking. On February 9th, he became a member of the Independent Order of Mechanics Friendly Society, Temple of Faith Lodge No.17. In 1988 he decided to move to America with his family and resided in New York and worked for Local 79 as a construction worker. When he retired, he moved to Ocala. Fl with his wife. Matthew was a loving husband and father and grandfather. He loved music, dancing, and socializing with friends. He was a very generous person and loved helping everyone.
Matthew is survived by his children and grandchildren, and is preceded in death by his wife Irene Alcindor, brothers, and sisters.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday January 6th, 2023, at Baldwin Brothers Funeral & Cremation Society, 11250 SW 93rd Ct. Rd. Ste. 300 Ocala, Florida 34481, at 1:00PM. Calling hours will be the same day from 11:00AM-1:00PM. Arrangements have been entrusted to Baldwin Brothers Funeral & Cremation Society- Timber Ridge Ocala location.
