Matthew was a very bright eyed, quiet, happy baby that had no fear and instantly fell in love with his brother and sister. He wanted nothing more than to be part of whatever they were doing and was never far away from them. They formed an unbreakable bond that would last a lifetime and beyond from the moment he was born.
His family later moved to Arizona where Matthew attended K-6 grade at Huachuca City School where he played pop-warner little league during that time he also served as the mascot for the Lions football team with the cheerleaders because he was still a little small for football and he truly loved making people smile. While attending Sierra Vista Middle School in Sierra Vista he was well known as the class clown being true to his comedic nature and quick witted humor. He attended Buena High School, where he discovered his love of theater arts and he really excelled. He assisted his instructor with the setup and completion of the schools new auditorium to include the audio video and all the moving parts in order to produce a number of short movies and plays. Matthew moved around some after graduation to include Chicago and New Jersey where he attend Brook Dale Junior College. He later moved to FL. where he made his home.
While in Florida he was able to start working in the business that he loved and had a passion for the audio visual production with his brother and rose quickly in the industry. This allowed him to travel and see many new places and appreciate all that was out there. He became a leader and truly enjoyed teaching people the beauty involved in the trade that he had such a passion for. Because of this love he became one of the most respected and loved people around. People who never met him heard of him because of his attention to detail and amazing work ethic. He was part of the incredible duo “The Sturgeon Brothers” that was widely known and loved. He loved his AV family as true brothers and sisters and would always be happy knowing he had found a profession that was full of such loving people. He believed if you love what you do and the people you work with you don’t work a day in your life, you simply get paid for doing what you love.
During this time he and Isabelle Shuman was blessed to have a beautiful daughter Calista Marie Sturgeon who he loved more that life itself, this was his calling and a responsibility he took to heart with everything he had to offer. She was in his every thought, every action, every breath and he was determined to be the best father possible. The time he spent with her was full of joy and there was nothing he wanted more than to spend every moment with her seeing her laugh and smile. This was a defining moment of his life because he always dreamed of being a father and was so proud of his baby girl. Matthew later met the love of his life, a truly remarkable soul and person Jerome Jayme (Gi Gi) whom he was engaged to marry. Their love was that of a fairytale with no bounds and was undeniable, he had found his true love and saw his life as complete with her by his side.
The world is a sadder place without him, but heaven is a little more complete with him. He loved everyone and had a heart of gold and loved seeing people laugh, with him or at him as long as they laughed. He drew happiness from seeing others succeed and he was truly the most giving soul, his smile and kind eyes will forever be missed.
