Obituary
Maynard Lee Witmer Jr. was born May 23, 1942 in DeKalb, Illinois to Maynard Witmer Sr. and Myrtle Witmer. He graduated from Belvidere High School in 1961. He married Joyce Yale on April 28, 1962 in Milton, WI. They lived in Belvidere one year and then moved to Janesville in 1963 when Maynard got a job at General Motors. They lived there until 2002, when they moved to The Villages, FL.
They have two daughters: Jeannette (Marty) Hernandez, of Round Rock, TX; and Jeanene (Keith) McQuade of The Villages; five grandchildren: Amanda, Joshua, and Jessica Miller of Round Rock, Andrew Dransfield, Janesville, and Cassie McQuade of St. Pete; seven great grandchildren: Hailey, Riley, Eisley; Ivy Jane, Serena, Kaaeliyeh, and Kole; two brothers: Robert (Sharon) of Canton, GA; and Clark; and a brother in law: James (Peggy) Yale of St Charles, MO.
Maynard retired from General Motors in 1991. He was very involved with Local 95 serving as Zone Committeeman and Vice President. After retirement, Maynard and his wife Joyce became antique dealers. They enjoyed auctions and going to rummage sales.
Maynard loved anything to do with cars, the Chicago Bears, being a Democrat, watching TV. He loved to laugh and always had a positive attitude. He hardly ever complained about all he went through wit over eight years of lung and brain cancer.
He loved to travel. He made it to all 50 states and 10 European countries.
There will be a memorial service for Maynard at Fairway Christian Church on Wednesday, December 2nd at 11:00 AM. The family will greet guests from 10:30-11:00.
Donations may be made to Cornerstone Hospice, Fairway Christian Church, or the Cancer Society, Hubbard House.
