    It has taken me a while to write about Melanie. I still start to text her everyday and see if she wants to go for a walk. When I see an event she might want to attend, I pick up my phone . Mel and I became friends years ago. I knew of her but we never spoke. One day she walked up to the desk at yoga, hit me on the head and said; Hey Joey Jo, how are u? We were friends from then on. She was not as quiet as most thought. She was a chatterbox. She was smart, and funny, and a good friend. We had many long talks about a loss we shared in common. The talks were deep. I learned so much about her. Rest well Mel, your Jo Jo misses u.

    My heart is shattered. You brought so much joy and love to my life. I miss you so, so much. I keep reading our texts and wishing for one more. Thank you for loving me unconditionally and being never forgetting about me.

    You were genuine and honest, conversations were never surface level, you actually cared about what was going on in my life. You were at my very first class and the only one to give me feedback - that I kicked butt (: That little bit of confidence carried me through my teaching journey. May your legacy live on through the trees

    I’m so sad I will not get to have your sweet presence in class anymore.
    Your thoughtfulness and genuine interest in me and my family was so endearing.
    You were an amazing human and I miss you so much.

    Mel, my heart is sad you are no longer here, but I am so grateful for you and our friendship over the past 10 years. You motivated me to get back to running and I have been very blessed to have known you. I wish you peace and perfect health for your journey ahead. I won’t ever forget you my friend. Rest in peace Mel.
