Obituary
Meta Giliam, of Titusville, passed away on the morning of January 5, 2021 at the age of 95.
She will be remembered as a loving Mother to her children and their spouses. Preceded in death by her parents, Jan Hendrik and Ellionor van Baalen, her sister and brother, Ilse Boots and her husband Henri, and Rudy van Baalen and survived by her sister Henny Fontham.
Meta was loved by all her children, Hans Rozema, predeceased (1946), Mady Rozema of Reno NV, Marilyn Rego and her husband Mike of Titusville FL, Bob Verbeek and his wife Kathi of Leonia NJ, and Lisette Bayer and her husband Bud of Georgetown Texas. She also is survived by her loving grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Meta lived an extraordinary life. Born in Bandoeng, Indonesia in 1925, where she lived until after World War 2, then Holland and Australia before migrating to the USA in New Jersey in 1957 and then settling in San Jose California with her husband, Henk Verbeek, predeceased (1970). After Henk’s death she moved to NJ, back to California, and eventually to Ocala Florida and married Will Giliam, predeceased (2011). She then moved to Titusville to be closer to her two daughters, Marilyn and Lisette.
After her children her next love, were her flowers, each one had a special meaning and a place in her heart as they bloomed, and was tending to those flowers up until her very last days. Meta was also an avid reader and could devour an entire book in a single sitting. She will be missed by all.
