Obituary

Mike Baez was born November 30th, 1959 in Manhattan, New York living in New Jersey until attending high school at Forest Lake Academy in Apopka, Florida.  Mike passed away December 19th, 2015 after a long and hard fought battle with multiple health issues.  Through it all, he was able to keep his sense of humor surprising and inspiring people with his resilience and determination and continuing to go to work every day until mounting physical challenges overwhelmed his resolve.

His relatively short life was full in experiences.  He graduated from Southern Missionary College in Collegedale, Tennessee in 1985 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Religion.  Mike developed a lifelong interest in tennis and remained a NY Mets and NY Giants fan no matter where life took him.  Teaching English in Korea for a year gave him a fondness for Asian culture and its people.

Making the best of what life offered, he unknowingly continued to touch people who knew him with his depreciating sense of humor and infectious laughter.  His example encouraged others to make the best of their own lives and trust in God’s plan and timing for each of us.

He was devoted to his wife, Robin, of twenty-seven years sharing the ups and downs of life as a team, and enjoyed celebrating God’s goodness by cruising together.  Though Mike wanted no recognition or memorial, certainly this humble man will be remembered for his strength and courage amid the harsh challenges he faced daily.

Robin.....Carolyn and I just recently learned of Michael's passing and we're so sorry of your loss. You two were the initial inspiration for Carolyn and I when we were married. You both were standing right there with us when tension was flowing. We will continue in remembering of Mike's wit, his love for everyone, his willingness...never complaining of any handicap. We now can't help but visualize of his glorious tomorrow when Jesus comes, lifts him up, and then the wonderful promised reunions that we'll all experience. So thankful that sadness, sickness, death, and this old world will be gone forever!!! God Bless YOU Robin.....We love you!!!

Our brother in law, Mike, fought a tough long battle each day of his life. He was a dedicated employee and worked until the last few months of his life. He loved laughter, his wit and humor was infectious, when he laughed one couldn't help but laugh with him because he laughed all over, inside and out. He would crack us up with laughter more times than we can count. This is one of the many things we will always remember and miss. Though his health was failing, his main concern was for Robin and the future she would have, he made sure things were in place for her. Mike's mission here is finished and he is resting, no more pain and discomfort, He is at peace now awaiting that glorious day in the not too distant future when he and Robin will be reunited and we meet him again outside the pearly gates where we as a family will gather to enter with Jesus for eternity. Rest on our brother, we'll see you in the morning.

I have known Mike and Robin for over 15 years and I was always in total awe of how they lived their life. They were always there for one another. When Robin had a bad day Mike was always there with his sense of humor to brighten her day. They would pray together every day before leaving for work. No matter what health issue Mike had going on that day, you would never hear him complain. And he was always praising God no matter what life dealt him. I have never actually met Mike, but I have heard about him, his challenges, his life, his successes, his laughter through Robin. I can honestly say that I have learned so much from him that I am a better person for it. I will miss Robin telling me the jokes he says, or how he picks on her, or how he cares more for her than himself. But this I do know, Mike is in a better place now, playing the best tennis ever. I will miss you Mike.

    Ross
