Obituary
Former Minnesota resident Mike David, 56, passed away unexpectedly November 26, 2021, in Sarasota, Florida.
Mike was born December 11th, 1964, in New Prague, Minnesota, to Alvin David and Betty (nee Sevcik).
Mike was known for his heart of gold. Whether risking his own well being for others as a firefighter for 24 years, or helping out his friends and neighbors in the Sarasota area for the past 5 years. He will be remembered for his warm smile, patience, kindness, love for his family and dog, and his ability to fix anything.
Mike was preceded in death by his father Alvin and sister Mary Schneider. He will be forever missed by his loving wife Karla Lauer; his children Phil (Kelly), Tommy (fiancé Jules), Steve (Kari), Chris (Caitlin), and Sarah; his step-children Zach (Maddy) Lauer, and Ryan Lauer; his granddaughters Kyla, Eve, and Blake; his mother Betty; his sister Jenn (fiancé Ben); his many in-laws; and his ever-loyal dog Lacy.
A private service for the immediate family will be held in Sarasota. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be directed to K9s For Warriors or to the donor’s choice. Mike was a huge advocate of service/emotional support dogs and he knew firsthand the healing power of a dog’s love.
This was such a fabulous weekend celebrating our 50th Bdays together in Vegas! Rest in peace my friend.
