Obituary

Michael James Sullivan, 65 of Winter Springs died Sunday, February 12, 2017 at his home with his family by his side.  Michael was born August 16, 1951 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin to the late Sarah Catherine and Patrick J. Sullivan.  He married his wife Kathleen June Beighley on October 25, 1975 and moved to Winter Springs to raise their family.  Michael owned numerous businesses over the years and particularly enjoyed construction including building the family home with son Michael, Jr.  He will be remembered for his laughter and great sense of humor. He could always be counted on to be there for family and friends.  Michael enjoyed spending time with family and time at the beach.  He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Kathy; devoted children, Michael, Jr of Winter Springs, Erin and her husband, Kurt van Zyl of Sanford, Florida; five brothers, Patrick (Karen), Paul, Peter (Sharon), Tom (Barb) and Gene (Charlotte); brother-in-law Byron Beighley (Georgia), sister-in-law Karla Bluedorn (Dale);  many nieces and nephews and his best grand-dog, LeRoy. A life celebration will be held at a later date.

Michael’s family wishes to express their thanks and appreciation to family, friends, and medical staff for the wonderful care and support during his illness and a special thanks to his “girls”.

We are sadden to hear about Mike's passing from this life - onto the next one with all the crazy Irish family to help him make the transition. The "Sullivan" Boys always enjoyed the farm visits - I am sure the Aunt Margaret and Uncle Edward will be waiting to visit with him again -- thoughts and prayers for your family during this time! Your Cousins in WI, Madge (O'Rourke) and Dean Waege

I had the grand honor of meeting Mr. Sullivan years ago. He was a unique spirit. To say he was a class act is an under statement. Whether you were a king or a pauper, he could converse with you in a way, that made you feel as if you were of the highest importance. His compassion and intelligence mixed with his humor and firey spirit never went unnoticed when he was in the room. He instilled life lessons that are priceless to me. He made sure I felt as if I was part of the family. He was a great man with an abundance of love and laughter. I watched him illuminate when Kathy would come home from work. To see him so happy and hear him call her "kiddo" not only fascinated me, but warmed my heart. He told me when we first met, his kids were his best friends and he didn't give a darn (cough, not the word he used) who knew it. He went on to tell me how he enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his kids and wife. I will forever miss his "Well, hello there" as I walked into a room. He was one of a kind, and a man I am forever grateful to have known. That gentle and kind spirit will never be forgotten. I thank you Sir, for being a second father to me. And to that end I say "danke schoen"

    Kathy and all,

Our prayers are with you -- as they have been. This brings back some wonderful memories as we so often awaited the arrival of "Pat's Boys" to enliven dreary resort life in the north woods. Mike will be missed. But then Sully, Uncle Pat, and Sadie have been blessed with some awfully good company.
