Obituary
Michael “Mike” Paul Henry passed away at home on December 17, 2022, surrounded by family and friends, following more than two years battling leukemia. A celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date.
Mike was born on June 1, 1942 in Waterloo, Iowa to Carolyn and Marshall Henry. He is survived by a son, Christopher and wife, Kristi Henry of Madison, Al, his best friend and partner. Barbara Freese-Venice,Fl, sister Robyn (Arden) Stokstad-Des Moines, Sister-in-law Kris Warford Henry-Coralville, sister Catherine Rohlf ( John )-Cedar Falls, Brother Thomas Henry ( Angela),-Granger, IN and Andrea Llewelyn of Waterloo Iowa. Mike is preceded in death by his parents and brother Jim.
Family was very important to him and he visited family in Iowa at least once each year.
Mike graduated from Iowa State Teachers College High School in 1960 and attended Iowa State University as well as the University of Iowa where he graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked at Chamberlains in Cedar Falls, GTE in Huntsville, Alabama, and as an engineer for the Department of Defense on Redstone Arsenal in Alabama before retiring in 1997.
In 2000, He began his friendship with his bestfriend Barbara Freese and they most recently lived in Venice Fl.
They enjoyed traveling, especially cruises and many trips to Disney World.
