Obituary
Michael “Mike” Dixon Propps, 76, of Altamonte Springs, FL entered into Heaven March 8, 2022 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Mike was born in Charleston, West Virginia October 4, 1945 to Alderson “Stretch” and Dorris “Sandy” Propps. Mike and his family moved to Orlando – College Park in 1949. He played baseball and football during his youth. He was best known for playing quarterback at Edgewater High School and during his senior year the team had one of the winningest football records in school history when he graduated in 1963.
Mike was given a football scholarship to Witchita State University where he played for several seasons. He then completed the remainder of his education as the first graduating class of Florida Technical University, later known as the University of Central Florida, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts In Education.
After graduating, Mike went on to teach and coach football at Northeast High School in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Mike also earned his VFR pilot’s license and completed his training with a memorable flight from Ft. Lauderdale to Orlando-Herndon Airport to meet his parents. Mike then entered the Medical Sales field where he made his career as a Regional Manager for several well known medical supply companies. He then retired in 1998 and became the primary caregiver to his beloved wife Brenda Propps after she suffered a massive stroke.
Mike enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson and weightlifting. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Orlando where he served as an usher for many years. He was a devout father to his son Jeffrey Propps and husband to his wife Brenda Propps. He always loved spending time with his grandsons Parker and Paxton Propps. For all that knew Mike, he loved having a good time, joking, and laughing with his family, friends, and everyone that he encountered.
Mike was predeceased in death by his father Alderson “Stretch” Propps. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Brenda Hunt Propps, son Jeffrey Propps and wife Stacy, grandchildren Parker and Paxton Propps, mother Dorris “Sandy” Propps, sister Pamela Smith, and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held April 1, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Orlando in Henry Chapel located at 3000 S. John Young Parkway; Orlando, FL 32805. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in memory of Michael Dixon Propps be made to the First Baptist Church of Orlando at the following link http://www.firstorlando.com/payment
