Obituary

Miguel MontesDeOca, 70 years old, of Daytona Beach, FL passed away on June 19, 2024.
He passed away peacefully at Advent Health Hospital in Daytona Beach, FL after a treacherous battle with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis).
Miguel was born in Cuenca, Ecuador and his parents were Hector MontesDeOca and Tarsila Aguilar. His siblings are Santos MontesDeOca, Clara MontesDeOca, Jose MontesDeOca, Hector MontesDeOca and Milton MontesDeOca.
He immigrated to Chicago, in 1972 at the age of 18. He graduated from National College of Education with a bachelor’s degree in education. He married Blanca MontesDeOca on January 1, 1977 and was blessed with 3 wonderful children Carolina MontesDeOca, Vanessa MontesDeOca, Andrew MontesDeOca. He started his career in Real Estate in 1986, which he was very passionate about. Miguel moved to Florida in June of 1990 and worked 30 plus years for Coldwell Banker in Deland. He widowed in 2001 and remarried on July 19, 2003 to Maria de Fatima Rivadeneira and had Matthew MontesDeOca that same year. Miguel served faithfully for 34 years as an usher at the Basilica of St. Paul’s where he would say was his second home. He is survived by his numerous family MontesDeOca, Aguilar, Gonzalez, Pollock, Garcia, and his countless friends.
His funeral mass will be held on Monday June 24, 2024 at 5pm at the Basilica of St. Paul in Daytona Beach, Florida. His family will be present to welcome loved ones.
