Obituary

Miguel Angel Rivera, 88, of Port Orange, passed away on January 7th, 2023. Miguel was born on October 31, 1934, and grew up in Guayama, PR. Upon completion of his primary and secondary education, he enlisted in the U.S. Army.

Miguel went on to serve 22 years on active duty where he retired as Sergeant First Class, specializing in tactical ballistic missile defense systems including assignments related to the early development of Patriot missile systems used in defense of Russian SCUD missiles.

Upon retirement from the U.S. Army, Miguel continued public service in I.T. and technology-related roles within Dade County Public Schools for 18 years. He retired full time in 1998 and moved from Homestead to Port Orange, FL.

Miguel is survived by Maria, his spouse of 30 years, 3 daughters, 2 sons, 3 sisters, 2 brothers, and was the proud grandfather of 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at Grace Baptist Church, 1703 Taylor Rd, Port Orange, FL 32128 on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 11am. Floral arrangements can be directed for delivery to the church, or you can plant a tree in Miguel’s honor by visiting alivingtribute.org to make a selection.

Miguel is one of these rare people whom I have had the pleasure of being loved by, he was one of the kindest men I had the pleasure of knowing. You will always remain in my heart. My boys adored you as well!! Rest easy Miguel, until we meet again …
