Obituary

Mildred Rose Kraujalis, maiden name Spelman, age 73, of Cape Coral, FL, passed away October 20, 2021, peacefully in her home. Millie was born June 7, 1948, in Queens, NY. Millie’s family relocated to Miami, FL for some time before moving back to NY when she was an adolescent.

It was in NY that she graduated high school, obtained her Associates degree, and met her future husband. At age 23 on September 25, 1971, Millie married the love of her life, Edward Kraujalis. While Millie’s beloved Eddie preceded her in death in 1999, to Millie she was never not married, celebrating 50 years of marriage to her sweetheart this past September.

During their marriage, Ed & Millie moved to Cape Coral, FL and there welcomed two daughters: Jessica Lynn in 1987 and Sara Ann in 1990. In the midst of her growing family, in 1989, Millie obtained her insurance license. She has worked in the insurance field since then. Millie was hard-working and well respected in the insurance community. Her outgoing personality and loving disposition gained her many close friends over those 32 years. She had a love of animals, especially cats, and enjoyed attending dinner theater shows and traveling with family and friends.

She cherished her relationships with her family and the friends she considered family; excitedly looking forward to gatherings or reunions with those whom she had a lifetime of friendship with, and many memories of good days spent with Eddie as well.  Some of Millie’s favorite things included reminiscing about her time and memories made with Ed in the Keys, spending time gardening in her yard, dragonflies, drinking margaritas (no salt) or red wine (with ice), Sunday dinners and sleepovers with her family and spending as much time as possible spoiling her 3 granddaughters. Millie will be remembered as many things, but most notably loyal, self-sacrificing, and above all, loving those around her and close to her fiercely, unconditionally and without reserve.

She is survived by her daughter Jessica George, of Fort Myers, FL, son-in-law, three grandchildren, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, nieces, a nephew and many close friends she considered family. She was preceded in death by her parents, aunt, siblings, beloved husband Eddie, and beautiful daughter Sara Ann.

My gram was my best friend. Someone I could really talk to and she really cared for me. Although she’s not here there’s not a day that goes by when she’s not on my mind. It brings me comfort knowing she’s with Sara and her Eddy. She was a fine example of a family woman and person. She meant the world to me. I am grateful for every day I’ve spent with her, she is the most selfless person I know. It’s on this day especially that I can hear her voice and picture her there with me. I’ve held her very close to my heart this past year and I will continue to in the many more years to come. I could never forget about a person as special to me as my gram.
    Love your Taly Bear,

I met Millie in sophomore year of high school at the Mary Louis Academy in Jamaica, Queens. We shared many good times in the school play "The King and I," and at the many parties she and Eddie used to host. She was my matron of honor and I was her maid of honor. A lovely strawberry blonde, my grandmother, Agatina Palumbo, used to call her "Lilla Gella" (little girl). She was like a member of our family. Her father was a retired NYPD, and he and my father were great friends. She had a wonderful family, and will be sorely missed by us all.

My heart is breaking ... Millie was the dearest, sweetest girl ever. We had so many wonderful times in high school and in our recent conversations, I could tell she hadn't changed a bit....ever full of love and feisty as ever. Heaven has a new saint for sure. I send my condolences to Jessica and the family.

Dear Jessica and Family. My deep condolences to you and your family. Was grateful to have seen her last month with other friends. Reminisced about days past. My dearest and cherished memory of Miller was Busting a Move in the hallway when Bob Seger’s Good Old Rock ‘n’ roll song would come on the radio. Rest In Peace my friend.

My deepest condolences to Jessica and her family who have lost a loving mother. I will always remember how much Aunt Millie loved Ed, who left this world way to early, and how Sara and Jessica brought immense joy in their lives.

We are there for you Jessica.
