WoW! Forty-two years putting up with Mickey, quite a ride. The smoke, the ferrets, the prairie dog (that sucker could bite!), the flying squirrel or sugar baby- as she called it, the cats, the yard squirrels, and dozens of other critters over the years that I can't even begin to remember. The wonderful stories Mickey used to tell of her younger years, fishing, crabbing, her grandmother, her adventures with Bobby, and the adventures with Jim and Edda Reed, the houseboat trip down the Suwannee River. I so wish that I had recorded all these memories over the years, as these were what Mickey was all about. And beating the cancers. Up to the very end, she was convinced she had beaten it. When we visited last September 2016, we sat and ate frog legs together at Sam's Seafood on North 441, and she was so happy, as she knew she had beaten the liver cancer. And when I spoke wirh her for the last time, on New Year's day, 2017, she sounded so positive. She was cooking up a pot of blackeye peas, cornbread, cabbage, and perhaps some ham. She sounded like she was ready to live a lot longer.
Well, I will miss her. We spoke often, even though 775 miles separated us. She was like a big sister to me.
