Obituary
Milton Owen Crawford, age 90, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 8, 2018. He was born in Winter Garden, on August 19, 1927, the first child of 6 children of Ernest and Lois Crawford. His siblings were Harry, Daroles, Ernest Jr, Don and Fred.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen of 66 years and four children: Steve (Tammy), Carol (Steve York), Karen (Richard Wagoner) and Dawn (Phil Tinder). He and Eileen have 11 grandchildren: Allison Crawford, Lindsey Kaszuba, Aaron and Joshua York, Timothy, James and David Wagoner, and Trevor, Ashlyn, Madison and Nathan Tinder. At last count there were two Great Grandchildren, Lucy Wagoner and Savannah Rae Wagoner and a little Kaszuba due in October.
After graduating from Lakeview High School, he enlisted in the Coast Guard, worked in the Merchant Marine and then joined the Army, where he served in Japan during the Reconstruction led by General Douglas MacArthur. When he returned to the states and completed his tour of duty, he met Eileen at Orlando Junior College and they married in 1951. In 1955 he and Eileen were part of a group of 85 people who chartered Aloma Baptist Church. He worked as a credit manager for Holloway Concrete and later for John Sexton & Company. For a while, he worked 3 jobs: a paper route before sunrise, Sexton full time in the daytime, and as the janitor/custodian for Aloma Baptist Church. All of this so Eileen could be home with the children. At the same time he took night classes at Rollins College where he graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Business. He retired from John Sexton & Company after 22 years.
He served in many roles at Aloma Baptist Church: He was a Deacon, Trustee, Sunday School Teacher, sang in the choir and served on numerous committees, including, the Building Committee, Finance Committee, and Pulpit Committee.
Upon Owen’s death, his wife Eileen becomes the last living Charter member of Aloma Church. In lieu of flowers please donate to the church’s building fund. http://alomachurch.org
“A Memorial Service for Owen will be held at Aloma Church, Saturday, July 14, at 10 am, with a reception afterwards. The Church is located at 1815 Semoran Blvd in Winter Park, Florida
He was a true man of God. He and Eileen were so peaceful. They have been on my mind recently for some reason. I just wanted to let the family know what an amazing family they have.
