Obituary
Muriel Elaine (Zeisler) Cook, 84, of North Ft Myers, passed away on October 2, after a battle with Alzheimer’s.
Muriel was born on March 11, 1937 to Lester and Virginia Zeisler in Peoria, IL. She graduated from Manual High School in 1955 as Salutatorian and was editor of the school newspaper. She went on to study Childhood Education at Bradley University. There she met William Cook and they wed in 1958, going on to have 3 children.
Muriel dedicated her early life to being a devoted and wonderful mother. When her children entered school, Muriel went to work for St. Francis Hospital as a Medical Transcription Secretary where she worked for 22 years retiring in 1997.
Muriel enjoyed cooking, spending time with family and traveling. She was an avid bridge player and a member of the Peoria Garden Club. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. We will miss her dearly.
Muriel was predeceased by her parents Lester and Virginia Zeisler, brother Fredrick, sister Betty and granddaughter Margaret (Doucette) Pickering wife of John M. Pickering, USAF. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, William Cook, daughters, Leslie (Stan) Harris, Cindy (Chuck) Doucette, Karen (Vince) Jordan, 5 grandchildren, Adam Harris, Megan (Fergal) O’Shea, Jonathan Doucette, Liam Jordan, James Jordan, and 6 great-grandchildren, John Charles, Evelyn, Leah, Oliver & Samuel Pickering and Declan O’Shea.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Disabled American Veterans Charity, DAV.org.
