Nakoa “Nick” Randall Thomas, born June 16, 1990, in Lexington, Ky passed away suddenly and left us all too soon on July 23rd, 2023, in Daytona Beach, Florida. Nick is preceded in death by his sister Brianna Gayle Burke, Grandmother Angela Chism, Uncle John Haley and Stepfather Steven Oman. He will be lovingly remembered by his children Kaiden Nakoa, Nakoma Koda and Isabelle Avery, His mother Vickie Haley-Oman, His four sisters Neosha Bates, Megan Tanturri, Markala Oman and Amber Ritter, and several nieces and nephews, close relatives, and special friends.

Nick was a light in this world. He loved to make people laugh, always telling a joke or being silly. His light shed onto so many when they needed it the most. His main passion in life was his children. He would’ve given them the world if he could have. He was always eager to help someone in need. He would give the shirt off his back even if it was all he had. He never met a stranger; you could sit and talk with him for hours as if you had known him for years. He was just that person.

Nick enjoyed being outside as a kid, exploring, making friends, wandering in creeks, catching frogs, building clubhouses.  He was also very proud of his Native American heritage, and it lived in him with his passion for being outdoors. His name means “One who walks the Sky”, which fits perfectly.

He was a certified forklift operator and worked in construction and contracting.

Nick will forever be in all of our hearts and missed more than anyone will know.

In memory of Nick, his family will be holding a celebration of life at Bulow State Park in Flagler Co. Florida, August 13th. More details to come.
