Obituary
Nancy Lynn Fraser Gaffney went to her heavenly home on Saturday July 24, 2021, in her home surrounded by her family and much loved rescue dog Shana. Nancy was born April 18, 1945 in Colorado, the daughter of Marjorie Ackerman Huff and Captain James Fraser.
Growing up in a military family she moved frequently as a young child, finally settling in Michigan. She graduated from Genesee High School and began working at General Motors. Nancy raised her three children on her own in Fenton Michigan. One of her greatest joys was when she started taking aerobics classes in the 80’s and ultimately became an instructor. She continued teaching aerobics well into retirement. She had a passion for health and fitness (Don’t forget to breathe and drink lots of water!) You would constantly see Nancy carrying around a giant water bottle.
She moved to Lansing where she met and married her husband Joe. After retirement, they moved onto a golf course in McCormick, South Carolina. They both enjoyed many new friends and loved working on their golf game! Nancy became an avid bird watcher. She even set out a mealworm feast every morning on the deck for the bluebirds. And she could attract a constant stream of hummingbirds at her numerous feeders and loved every minute of it!
In 2015, Nancy and Joe moved to The Villages in Florida. They continued to stay busy with all the fantastic activities in The Villages and once again, made many cherished friends. One of the things they really loved was taking friends and family on golf cart tours and joining in on the many parades. Nancy also took great joy in caring for her two rescue dogs. They were fed more gourmet meals than most people!
She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Joseph Gaffney. Nancy’s three children; daughter Lynn Mattis (Matt) and their children Nicholas (23), Olivia (19) and Geneva (19), son Jeffrey Cameron and his boys, Braiden (20) and Carson (13), daughter Lisa Burke (Billy) and her step-daughter Jennifer Porman (Mark) and their son Carter (17). She is also survived by her sister Janice Morgan (Bob) and nephew Russ Ridley and niece Brandi Smith.
Nancy was preceded in death by her Mother and Father.
She was loved dearly, her family will miss her greatly but will cherish the wonderful memories that will last forever. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to her favorite charity Peke A Tzu Rescue www.pekeatzurescue.com This is where she rescued her much loved fur babies, Sassy and Shana.

“Our friendship is forever.
Until death, did we part.
Although you’re away physically,
You’re always in my heart.”
I have always believed that those most special to us are brought into our lives for a reason, a season or a lifetime. Although we were only blessed with a short friendship, it was filled with a lifetime of love.
I will miss you my dear friend.
May you Rest In Peace
Love Maggie
