Obituary

Nancy Marie McDonald, aged 55, passed away on June 30th, 2020 at her home in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. She is survived by her husband, Gordon, and daughters, Corrin and Haley, brothers Robert and David Jaeckel, sister Cathy Melvyn. Preceded in death by her parents Robert and Nancy Jaeckel.

Nancy was born on March 23rd, 1965, in Taipei, Taiwan. She graduated Mercy High School in Omaha, Nebraska and spent the last three decades in Florida. She met her husband Gordon, a software consultant, in 1992 and they were married three years later. Nancy and Gordon were lifelong best friends.

She was an avid reader and a superfan of Stephen King and Joe Hill. She spent years as a floral designer in Daytona Beach. This blossomed into a lifelong love of plants and her butterfly gardens. Nancy was also a music lover, especially of Petty, Def Leppard, and The Stones. She had a deep-rooted interest in rescuing animals. The last several years she spent caring for her family, dogs, and 3-acre property in New Smyrna Beach.

Nancy was an irreplaceable force in the lives of those she met. She was happy, intelligent, beautiful, and will be greatly missed by those who knew her.

Services will be private.

Donations may be sent to the Humane Society

We've done a lot of things we'll never regret. The good ones, the bad ones, moments I'll never forget. It's hard for me to cheer up, because I'm feeling blue; by accepting the fact that my life will never be the same without you.
You've been here for me through my ups and downs. You'd be willing to walk on by the outskirts of towns. Just to help me get through my problems all along.
Now that you are already gone; I'll guess I'll have to be strong.

Goodbye my dear friend. See you on the otherside

Nancy, I always thought Tom Petty was ugly. But an amazing musician. You know
Break Down is one of my favorite songs. I wish you would have shared what you were dealing with but we were never good at dealing with issues.. I can't believe that you are gone. I know you loved your daughters, as do I. In your death, I hope that your daughters and mine will remember that moms have to deal with a lot and we fight a lot for our children. I have looked at the many photos and have many happy memories of our lives as a military family. We lived all over the world. You were born in Taipei and had dual citizenship. You left behind a twin. Your bro was in the womb with you. I hope he has the strength to get through this. This tribute wall is for your amazing girls and husband that you left behind. I hope you found the peace in your life that you needed. Love Big Sis Catherine Jaeckel Melvyn

My twin sister Nancy, was the one person growing up who never let me be to safe, or to boring. Nancy was the one person growing up who made it her mission for me to put the books down and experience life. As time went on and we went our different ways we would fight, we would make and then we would fight again. We had our problems as all brothers and sisters do, and I have to take equal blame for these problems. With Nancy's loss it feels like a major chunk of my heart is missing. Nancy you were the first to accept Lori and welcome her into our family. You will always have a place in our hearts.

    Love always and forever
Lori, Katie, Matthew, Zorah, Cara, Gabe, and David
