Obituary
Nancy Anne Moreland, 63, of The Villages passed away on January 7, 2018 after a long illness. Nancy persevered with much courage in trying to beat her illness but in the end, God did not want her to suffer any longer. Nancy was born on August 21, 1954 in Rutland, VT to John Albert Moreland, Jr and Janet Scott Price. Nancy was preceded in death by her father and her brother Peter Scott Moreland.
Nancy lived most of her life in Vermont before moving to The Villages in 2009. She graduated from Rice Memorial High School, So. Burlington, VT in 1972 after which she attended Chandler School for Women in Boston, MA. In 2003, Nancy graduated cum laude from Champlain College in Burlington, VT with a major in Travel and Tourism Management. Always interested in matching her skills to the employment market place, Nancy attended Taylor College in Belleview, FL to become a Certified Medical Assistant in 2013.
While in Vermont, Nancy was active in the Vermont Business & Professional Women’s Organization. When Nancy moved to The Villages with her mother, Janet, it did not take her long to develop a circle of friends and activities. Nancy was very active in the Single Baby Boomer’s Club, the Villages Genealogy Club and the Maine/Vermont Club. She loved to bowl with the Baby Boomer’s Club where she was the coordinator for one of the Baby Boomer’s leagues for almost 6 years. She loved dogs especially Scotties and all of the dogs she used to care for when pet sitting. Nancy also supported The Villages summer program known as “Camp Villages”.
Nancy is survived by her mother, Janet Moreland of The Villages; her brother John A Moreland and his wife, JayDee of The Villages; niece Melissa Moreland Peek (Byron) of Temple, GA; nephew Gregory Moreland of Winston-Salem, NC; and grandnephew Blake Peek of Temple, GA.
The family is planning a celebration of life on Saturday, February 17th, at the Odell Neighborhood Recreation Center, 2260 Odell Cir, The Villages, FL from 1:30pm to 3:30pm. Interment will take place at Gates of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, NY at a future date. Any memorial donations are requested to be made to a charity of your choice.
