Obituary

Nate Sexton, 34, died April 11, 2010, after an extraordinary battle with cancer that started at the age of 11. Nate was born July 19, 1975, in Dayton, OH.  After stopping for a visit with close friends, his family decided to make New Smyrna Beach their home in 1985.  Nate lived in the New Smyrna Beach area until his passing.  He graduated from New Smyrna Beach High School and attended DBCC.His family wrote: "Nate never wanted it to be about him.  Regardless of his own condition, he was always so kind and considerate to everyone.  His determination and spirit served as an example for many others that had adversity to overcome.  His courage and strength was as vast as the ocean he loved.”   Nate’s parents would like to thank all of the nurses and doctors involved in his care over the years.  A special thank you to Dr. Avrohm Faber, Nate’s biggest champion in his battle against cancer.   Nate is survived by his parents, Doug and Kathy Sexton of Edgewater, brothers Jeff Sexton of San Jose, CA and Brandon Sexton of Tampa, FL sister Trish Sexton Crawford of West Carrollton, OH, nephews Taylor, Matt, Jeffrey, Conner, Caleb and Zach, niece Lindsey.  Other family members include 5 uncles, 7 aunts, 15 cousins including close cousins Seth & Morgan, and countless close friends. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Volusia Southeast Care Center 4140 South Ridgewood Avenue Edgewater FL 32141 or the American Cancer Society 1620 S Clyde Morris Blvd, Daytona Beach, FL 32119 in Nate’s memory.  A paddle-out ceremony will begin at 6:00PM , Thursday April 15, 2010 at the New Smyrna Beach Inlet.  With a Celebration of Life at Chase's on the Beach immediately following.
