Obituary
Kay Eckford, age 82, died at Florida Hospital, Orlando, FL on December 7, 2015 following a short illness.
Kay was born on August 27, 1933 in Starkville, MS, the daughter of Nellie Kay and Dr. “Feddy” Eckford. Kay attended high school in Starkville, received a BS and MS in Accounting from the University of Tennessee and received a second BS degree in Mathematics and did doctoral work in Accounting at Mississippi State University. Kay owned Orange Business Systems, a computer programming company in Orlando, FL until her retirement. After her retirement she taught accounting courses at Valencia College. Kay’s main passion in life was playing golf and she lived across the street from the 3rd hole at Dudsdread Golf Course.
Survivors include her longtime friend and partner, Pat Frick, her sister, Adele Eckford Smith, her brother-in-law, C. Perry Smith, DVM and her niece and nephew, Kay Lemery and Perry F. Smith, DVM., his wife, Jill Smith and their children, Hayley and Madison Lemery and Cole and Jacob Smith.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Dubsdread Golf Course, 549 W. Par St. Orlando, FL 32804 on January 14, 2016 from 2 – 6 pm.
